Telehealth

Highfields Psychology offers  telehealth services to clients who find it difficult to attend sessions either due to illness, personal circumstances or distance.

Telehealth is an easy way to provide health services over the phone or through video conferencing platforms. It can be just as effective as an in-person appointment and is often much more convenient for clients as it means you can connect with your clinician without having to leave your home.

If you have any questions about our telehealth services, please speak with your clinician or with our friendly administration team.

Preparing for a telehealth appointment

Equipment

You’ll need a reliable internet connection and a computer, tablet or smartphone that includes a camera and microphone so we can see and hear each other.

Joining the Telehealth call

We will send you an email confirming your appointment and giving you the telehealth meeting link for your session. When it is time for your appointment, click on the link in your email or SMS message. You should see a message saying that you’re in an online waiting room and we will let you into the meeting soon. Please be ready a few minutes before your appointment time.

During the session

You can sit anywhere you like during the appointment but we recommend that you choose somewhere comfortable and quiet where you won’t be distracted. The appointment will feel very similar to coming into the practice. You will see the same clinician and be working towards your agreed goals.

Telehealth and confidentiality

Confidentiality and privacy standards remain rigorous for telehealth services also and your clinician will ensure that there is no one else in the room with them during the session. Your clinician will not record the session without your permission.

You are asked to respect the privacy of your clinician by agreeing not to make recordings of the sessions and not to use the material from sessions for purposes other than therapy. If you want to record the sessions you must seek the clinician's consent to do so.
